It was hard work - cold, wet and heavy. To ease her burden, Karl-Erik decided to design and build a washer that not only reflected his love for his mother but also his respect for nature.

The result was a machine like no other. Not only did it make clothes much cleaner while using less energy, it could also heat water and spin. It was designed with a stainless steel drum and stood steady on four cast-iron legs.

The machine was revolutionary, and the results extraordinary. So extraordinary, that Karl-Erik was encouraged to share his invention with others, so that everyone could benefit. And he did by building a world-class engineering and manufacturing facility right there on the family farm. This act of care and love marked the beginning of ASKO.
